Our History

Shadycrest Baptist Church began as a mission of FBC Pearland on July 18, 1971. The new mission church met at Shadycrest Elementary School and later took the name Shadycrest in November, 1972. The church moved into their first new building on Hamm Road in October, 1973.

Shadycrest continued to purchase property, construct buildings, and expand ministerial staff to meet the growing needs of the congregation. In 2002, an MDO (In His Steps-Mother’s Day Out Program) was started to minister to the young families of the area. The Pearland Homeschool Alliance (PHSA) held its first classes at Shadycrest in the Fall of 2002 and continues to meet the needs of homeschooling families in our area today. In 2003, a new Preschool Building was dedicated to meet the growing needs of the church and In His Steps. The groundbreaking for our new Worship Center was held January 23, 2011, and we officially moved into the new facility February 26, 2012. With the new construction complete we have flipped the campus to face Yost Boulevard. Our new campus address is 3017 Yost Blvd., Pearland, TX, 77581.

The pastors who have led Shadycrest include: Rev. Joe David Saffle (1971-1974), Rev. Duane J. Sutton (1975-1976), Rev. Ron Honea (1977-1978), Rev. Taylor Norman (1978-1996), Rev. Steve Daily (1997-2009), and Dr. Ryan E. Jennings (2010-2015).

We look forward to future growth and expansion here in the metropolitan Pearland area and we believe the best is yet to come.
